Dunav Econt with a 45 point demolition of Romanians

Dunav Econt pulled a 98-53 win over Romanians Olympia Bucharest tonight in their first game at the pre-season friendly tournament in Alexandria, Romania. Thus, 2 weeks after they won the “Ruschuk” tournament in their home town Ruse, the girls of head coach Stefan Stefanov made the perfect start to the chase of another trophy.
Dunav Econt had the lead the whole time, after in the 1-st quarter they scored the amazing 35 points in just 10 minutes and lead by 19. The 5-th place finishers in last season's Romanian league Olympia Bucharest were left no chance to resist the great performance of the Bulgarian team, recently upgraded with the addition of several quality players. They are certainly starting to blend and play well together, with the club's debut in FIBA Eurocup fast approaching on the horizon. The Romanian opponent is familiar to the Dunav Econt fans, since a year ago it visited Ruse for another friendly game. Then Olympia achieved a 92-87 victory over a young (as it was back then) Dunav Econt team. Now it seems the tables have turned completely, as far as that sort of a match goes.
For the Ruse team tonight senior Bulgarian international Svetla Asenova scored the most points - 22. For Olympia best scorer was Munteanu with 13.
In the second round games tomorrow Dunav Econt play with Rapid Bucharest at 17.00h, while Olympia face hosts Alexandria at 19.00h.
