Good Lukoil Academic lost to Barcelona

Lukoil Academic lost to Barcelona at the friendly tournament in Sofia. The Bulgarian champions played very good game but came short at the end and lost 69-71. However everybody should be happy with the performance and the team was very close to an upset against the Spanish champion and one of the best teams in Europe.

From start to finish the game was very even as Barca went away in the second quarter. The visitors led by a few poinst but couldn′t pull away from Lukoil. At the break the margin was 5 points and at the start of the second half it went up to 10. Lukoil cut the deficit, then Barca once again pulled away but the hosts made a strong 11-0 run and took a 5-point lead. The visitors quickly restored their advantage and despite some troubles managed to hold on to the win at the end.

The captain Todor Stoykov had 15 points for the home side while Brandon Heath added 12. For the visitors strong outing had Nathan Jawai with 21 points.
