Lukoil Academic proved once again that they are the best team in Bulgaria. The champions won the derby game of the league against Levski away from home - 85-65. Lukoil took the lead in the middle of the second quarter and kept it until the end, thus beating easily their main opponent in the NBL. Now the champions have a perfect 9-0 record, while Levski is second with 7-2 (both loses having been sufferred at the hands of the same opponent).

After a close first quarter Vesko Veselinov and Tencho Banev provided some energy off the bench for the visitors and they took an 8-point lead. They kept it and were in front 41-34 at the break. In the second half Lukoil′s defense was much better than Levski′s and the scoreboard reflected that. Lukoil′s lead went up to 17 points, though after 30 minutes it was just 11. The high point was in the last quarter when the margin went over 20 points, which was also the final margin of victory for Lukoil.

Veselin Veselinov and Tencho Banev were the top scorers for the winners with 13 points apiece with Banev grabbing 11 rebounds for a double double. Todor Stoykov had 12 points and Andre Owens 11, while playing some good defense on Aaron Harper.

Harper himself was the top scorer for Levski with 14 points, which for him is somewhat below par. Vasil Evtimov added 11 plus 14 rebounds for a double double.
