Beroe 07 will face Lukoil Neftohimik in one of the semi-finals for the Bulgarian Women’s Cup. On Tuesday night the girls from Stara Zagora defeated Toni 7 as guests with 63-91 and won the quarter-final series (2-0). The young players from Sliven played well in this game, but couldn’t surprise the experienced favourites and will have to wait until next season for a better result in this tournament.

The game started very equally and after the end of the first quarter the score was 21-23 for the guests. During the second quarter Toni 7’s players couldn’t sustain the tempo and their deficit raised by 9 points for 48-37 at the half-time. After the break Beroe 07 continued to dominate the game, while Toni 7 tried to stay close in the score. The third quarter finished 23-19 and thus after 30 minutes of play the score was 56-71. So far the girls from Sliven managed to stay well on the court, but before the final ten minutes they were already physically and mentally exhausted trying to follow Beroe’s tempo. In the last quarter they couldn’t resist the pressure and lost with 20-7, forming the final score.

For the winners above all were Zhaneta Zhelyova with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists, and Ralica Neneva with 22 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists. For Toni 7 the top scorer was Vesela Tihina with 26 points, to which she added 4 rebounds, while Maria Radoycheva became the only player with a double-double in this game with 17 points and 12 rebounds.

The semi-finals start on 24th March at “Arena Samokov” as Dunav Ekont’s rival is still unknown. The game for 3/4th place is on 25th March and the final is on 26th March.
