Cherno More edged Balkan and advanced to the semifinals for Cup of Bulgaria

Cherno More Port Varna defeated Balkan 81-75 in the quarterfinal phase of the Cup of Bulgaria tournament in Pleven. This was the most interesting quarterfinal game and “The Sailors” advanced to the semifinals. They will face old rival Rilski Sportist who defeated the host Spartak Pleven 88-66 on Friday there and the winner goes to the final.
Cherno More won the first quarter, but Balkan took the lead at halftime – 34-32. The team from Varna got the lead after strong defense in the third quarter and managed to keep the lead until the end.
Stanimir Marinov scored 21 points and grabbed 5 rebounds for the winners and Miljan Pupovic added 14 points and 8 rebounds. For Balkan Pavel Marinov finished with 25 points and 11 rebounds and Nenad Sulovic with 15+11.
The other semifinalists are Lukoil Academic Sofia after an easy win against Beroe Stara Zagora – 92-68 and Yambol who eliminated last year’s winner Levski Sofia 75-70.
